Galactomannan
polymer (guar gum) is a complex
carbohydrate derived from the seed of specially grown bean plants. This
carbohydrate is a long chain linear molecule with a molecular weight of
approximately 1 million. The long polymer chains attract and weakly capture
water; as well as physically tangle with one another in solution thus
producing viscosity when mixed with water.
Guar
beans are grown primarily in Pakistan and India. The beans are harvested
and dried following the growing season. The beans are shelled from the
pods, the germ and hull removed. The resulting splits are wet-milled into
powder, the powder is graded by granulation and quality. Products are
re-blended according to specification, bagged and marked.
Rantec Corporation supplies
a wide variety of industrial grade guar gum products, including:
- C6SJ is very easy to mix with water, produces
very low initial viscosity, and ultimately produces medium to high viscosity.
- DI functions well in uses requiring quick
hydration and medium viscosity such as water-blocking and binder.
- DI-F is a specialized version of DI for
specialty explosive applications and for pelletizing binder.
- G150 Biopolymer finds uses in trench
construction for liquid shoring, drilling and as flocculent.
- KP3000 clay depressant is used in many
flotation processes.
- KP4000 is primarily used in mineral
processing as a flocculent and clay depressant.
- KP4000P contains biocide for prevention
of in-solution spoilage.
- SJHV is a coarsely granulated guar gum
for a wide range of industrial uses requiring ease of mixing and good
ultimate viscosity.
- Super Tack The fastest hydrating
highest adhesive value tackifier on the planet.
- UFD guar gum provides water-blocking/proofing
in many explosive manufacturing systems.
- UFF & UFF-SP function
as water-blocking agents for explosive manufacture and as tackifier.
Rantec Corporation also produces a number
of Specialty Gums for many applications.
